Fees for businesses are based on two major factors: 1) how much police service your type of business uses and 2) the size of your business and how much traffic it generates.
Using records from police calls, the SLVLESA created a fee structure that reflects the service demand by the type of business. Businesses that use law enforcement services more are asked to pay more. Your bill is based on the classification you have reported to Salt Lake County Business Licensing and the State of Utah Department of Workforce Services.
The number of employees at a business is also factored in because a larger workforce affects traffic enforcement costs. Your bill will be calculated based on the number of employees you report to the Utah State Division of Workforce Services and/or the Business Licensing office.
You will receive three bills in 2011 (January, April, and July) that are payable within 30 days. After 30 days, we will assess a 10% late payment penalty. In an attempt to hold down the fee for all, there is no discount for a prepayment or early payment.
